BORN TO FAIL NOW TO LIVE [147a]

Later edition. [second title]

God brought the creation into being by his word. But there was a further word needed before the creation could really be set on its ultimate path. That word was the word of the cross.

The initial creation was bound to fail. You can’t bring into existence a being who has the creative possibilities of God, while simultaneously possessing  the moral capabilities of a child. Adam and Eve were bound to fail.

Thereby lies a moral dilemma. God brought them into being, fully knowing they would be the parents of a corrupted world, with its attendant evil.

The cross summed up the totality of the moral conscience in the world. It appealed to mankind to abandon its lost cause and return to the one who intended it to flourish as per the original design, for such design there was, but lost in the process of self determination, now only to be seen as some shadowy thing that, though possessing some degree of glory, was darkened by comparison with that which had been intended.

The lamp had to be re-lit, and re-lit it was, by Jesus. The corruption of death at loose in the world had reproduced itself many times over, and he had to repair the damage by dealing with it internally, within his own body, so he could be seen to be the one who would save mankind by firstly saving himself*, and then by drawing others to him to be involved in the rejection of “the works of the devil” which he had come to destroy.

The works were to be destroyed by “destroying” the source of those works, which was that thing that lay at the root core of every human heart, that which was the source of rebellion against God. The thing itself was dealt with initially in Jesus, so that he was then no longer heading for the personal death of his body*, death could not hold him; not because he was unworthy of death, though that be true, but because he had dealt with death within himself in his agony on the cross, [which also included bearing the moral responsibility of all things] and restored created man to his design intention within himself.

He bore our sin by bearing our death and destroying it within himself. [this death includes all possible consequences of sin within the human personality]. Then he was liberated as the first fruit of creation itself to live forever in the final design of an immortal eternal body form.

In this form he was able to traverse and transcend the physical, appearing in locked rooms and also now, as ascended to heavenly places, able to, by faith in him,impart himself in the restorative form of the Spirit to everyone. The Spirit of life that was inherent in him, was now able to be imparted to man, by faith. Another way to say this, is that the Spirit of life that he always was, but was unable to communicate to man in any other way, was now able to be infused into man’s “heart” in such a way as to guarantee moral success for all those who truly placed their faith in his love, in him.

The fact of the cross and its power can now be clearly seen in the moral attributes of his  creation as well as the physical ones.  The power of it all is LOVE. [you will notice I have not mentioned “blood”]

We are saved by his sacrifice. We are saved by faith. We are also saved by hope. We are saved by many things, all based on his sacrificial love for us, in coming down and finishing that which he/we started, yet we could not complete. He did the finishing for us, not only showing “the full extent of his love”, but showing it in such a way that we could recognise not only who he is, but also that his nature is itself, LOVE.

Blood is the simplest way of saying that his life was given, as truly he did give his life as it encompassed the pain of all sin and the evil that came from this primordial creation. It was his life that was assailed by “our” death, and it was our death that he suffered in correcting that death out of existence, in eternal conflict in his body. It was his life force that healed the disruptive mechanism of death that is in us by the product of free will.

So it was the sacrifice of life (his) to make amends, to effect repair, to cause correction, of the problem known as sin and death. Therefore we say it was the shedding of blood that made it an “acceptable” sacrifice. Life had to overcome death, but only his life could do that because he was perfect in Spirit, and made also perfect in flesh by his own hand. Death did not take him, he willingly descended into death, “gave up his spirit”, having restored physical life he was now able to be raised in final creative form, to be the first of many sons who by faith take part in the first resurrection that Christ was.

[Romans 8-11.  But if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.]
