What shall we say then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.
Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over THE STUMBLING STONE… [of submission to God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness]. Romans 9-30.
There can be no righteousness by any given law. Law can only work on flesh, and flesh is unable to “produce” righteousness. It is a new Spirit that is required, a Spirit that sweeps the “house” clean, removing the law of sin and death and replacing it with “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”.
Romans 8-8 “That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants”. [the promised Holy Spirit] [received by faith] [faith in Christ].
