Still bumping into people who think that Romans 7 is about Christian behaviour or status. It is about behaviour that occurs under law, it is about slavery to sin because of the law, it is about “law brings wrath”, it is the condition FROM WHICH PEOPLE ARE RELEASED WHEN THEY BECOME CHRISTIANS.
That is why they are Christians, that is what makes them Christians, when they are released from slavery under the law into the grace of God, his mercy, his forgiveness, his love. Romans 7 is about the condition people are in when under law. It is not only the condition of religious people under law, but ALL people who are not “under” grace.
Paul called the law “the ministry of death”. [law is the condition of autonomy]
