Forgive us as we forgive … The very act of unforgiveness on our part, means that we retain this information within ourselves – the unforgiveness remains in us and with us. Rather than God not forgiving us, it has nothing to do with him, it is WE who hang on to that unforgiveness of others, that will be held against us “on that day”.
The retained unforgiveness represents a situation whereby there is incompatibility between what is in us and what is in him. There is no unforgiveness with him, either by him or in him, since he is perfect.
Everytime we step outside of God’s “parameters” we distance ourselves from God.
God does not hold these things against us, WE DO. we are the ones who retain the damage which will come back to bite us.
