..Took your sin by taking the responsibility for them. God took the responsibility for your sin, thereby giving you peace with him, who was your former enemy. You could not own up to your sin until the threat of it was removed, but now he has taken the responsibility for all things, you are able to own the truth of sin, and own the truth of him, that he exists and is bigger than your ego.

Sin is now dead because of this. Paul’s wretched position in Romans 7 where he admitted to sin in him, but disowned responsibility for it, was justified. “it is not I, but sin that dwells in me”. He wasn’t shifting the blame for being the agent through whom sin operated, but he was denying that he had much say in it. So “the devil made me do it” appears valid.

“Friendship with the world is enmity with God”. Now that enmity is destroyed, along with the power of your “former sins” to condemn you. You now have friendship with God, and enmity with the world.

[“If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin”.]
