SECURITY AND THE ASPECT OF FEAR [1274a]

We will always be self condemned while we remain in a state of self reliance. IF (or while) we remain from a base point of fear, always aware of our vulnerability, then there will always be a reason to fear because we will always be conscious of being of a nature that is faulty, that is contracting towards death instead of expanding in life.

Love is the only condition which denies all the negativity of self analysis, because for love to exist, all forms of death must go. This means that self has to be assigned to death, so that life can exist through trust, hope, faith.

[Perfect love casts out all fear][The one who fears is not yet perfected in love][Through fear of death man is held in lifelong bondage]

THROUGH FEAR OF DEATH MAN IS HELD IN A LIFE OF IMPRISONMENT [1216a]

Through FEAR. Fear has a lot to answer for, and although it can be a healthy thing in terms of preventing the body from dying through foolhardiness, and also it says that “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom”; it is fear because of uncertainty about life and death, that holds us paralysed and in a vicelike grip.

Written is “My people perish for lack of knowledge”. We need the message of truth to be brought to us so we can recover from the awful state of mediocrity and the futility of a life “lived” without ultimate purpose, without reason, and without hope.

THE FEAR OF GOD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM [1202a]

In this modern complicated and “sophisticated” world, it may be easy to get lost in the myriad of complicated and wordy structures that seem to govern our thinking. We may be unable to establish reference points or truths that then lead to an unravelling of this complicated system of modern knowledge.

One of the fundamental aspects is to “fear God”, or NOT. To fear death, or NOT. To appreciate that death is something undesirable and to be apprehensible about, that it is no laughing matter, That God exists and has plenty to say about our destiny. Or do we believe there is nothing beyond death, nothing beyond the “darkness” to fear?

It may be natural to fear the unknown. Yet a major biblical reference is “through fear of death, man is held in lifelong bondage”. So do we recognise we are in bondage, or not. Do we feel anything at all regarding our present lives, whether we carry guilt, or NOT? Something should move us, be it sorrow, pain or laughter, perhaps some kind of joy?

Are we emotionally stunted, beyond feeling because of past hurts, or do we seem to be apathetic to life in general? Do we remain untouched by the human story, by love, by grief??

Fear of death. Or the prospect of eternal life. To coin a phrase from David Rice, “think about it”.

THE WORLD IS WELL AND TRULY BROKEN [1133a]

The world is well and truly broken. We can’t fix it, it is beyond repair, and there is no sense in worrying about events that happen, have happened, or are going to happen. But we can fix ourselves by believing God. Though you are IN the world, you don’t have to be worried about the world, just live in the world He personally gives you, has given you in Christ. Trust in His repairing of yourself that He did in Jesus, and live in peace with yourself and with Him.

WE LOVE BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US [1092a]

Compiled from an earlier essay. To work for God you first have to HAVE God.

What man needs to do  to live a life of love and be participant in the divine nature, man needs to LOVE.

What is wrong with man? He needs to recognise the contradiction within himself. That he is less than he could be, less than he needs to be. He needs to listen to that which says this, and also to the information that tells him how he can be better than this.

The fundamental problem is he sees himself as less than adequate. He needs assurance that he is ok, that the fear within is unfounded. Firstly he needs to see a reason for his fears, and then needs to see a way out of them.

“We love because He first loved us”. This explains everything. That we cannot, of ourselves, become capable of expressing the divine and harmonious nature that gives us peace, because of inner turmoil and unanswered questions.

We have to be introduced to the divine nature acting on our behalf, FOR US. “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Anything less than the expression of love is inadequate, will fail. This love has firstly acted to express itself towards us, so we might recognise and benefit by it. So we might surrender ourselves to it in order to be a part of it, and it of us.

We need to trust in OTHER THAN OURSELVES in order to gain self trust. Those who are looking for an answer will recognise it in Jesus. What man needs to do to be eternally secure is to LOVE. Love removes turmoil and inserts peace.

We recognise our position and place in this world as being that which prepares us for the next. Only by being a part of the next, while still existing in the present, can we fulfil our destinies and that of those around us. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in and of the world.

What is wrong with man? Lack of vision, lack of understanding, lack of knowledge that this temporary world is only here to introduce us to the permanent one. Man who is in darkness needs to seek light, in full knowledge that darkness has been rendered powerless to hold you in blindness. [The light has found you].

At anytime you can have inner peace, because peace like love, can exist in its own right, and for its own sake. Because He first loved us, we can continue in his ongoing love. “And so we have come to know and rely on the love he has for us”. The ‘normal’ state of regenerated man is that of God’s love for us.
